Competition & Regulatory

Position

Partner with significant expertise in all aspects of EU and French competition law, including anticompetitive practices, complex merger transactions, damage claims and distribution law in a wide array of industries. Jerôme regularly represents clients before the French and European courts and authorities.

 

Jérôme has recently advised La Poste and La Banque Postale on the merger control aspects of the government’s plan to create a major public financial centre, Carrefour on its joint purchasing alliance with Système U in the mass retail sector, Predica on its acquisition of joint control over the Indigo parking lots and over the exhibition organiser Comexposium, and Opengate Capital on their several acquisitions.

Prior to joining BDGS Associés as partner in January 2016, Jérôme worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP’s Paris office (2001-2004 and 2010-2015) and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP’s Paris and London offices (2005-2009).

BDGS Associés is particularly strong in the field of merger control and has recently established itself as a leading player in the reform of the country's public sector by President Macron by acting for clients such as EDF, SNCF, La Poste and Aéroports de Paris. A team including Jérôme Fabre advised Safran on its notification to the European Commission with regard to its acquisition of Zodiac Aerospace via agreed tender offer, and Total appointed the practice to oversee the merger clearance issues arising from its acquisition of an indirect controlling interest of 23% of Eren Renewable. Mathilde Damon is also a name to note and recently handled a wide range of mandates including disputes in the distribution space. The team is jointly headed by Antoine Gosset-Grainville and Maria Trabucchi; the pair are currently representing a series of banks in proceedings brought against European Central Bank before the European Court of Justice relating to a series of decisions pertaining to leverage-ratio and irrevocable payment commitments. Other key clients include Carrefour, PMU and Canal+.
