Position

Mr Falkman specialises in mergers and acquisitions, energy and public utilities law and compliance and investigations. He acts regularly for Swedish as well as international clients and has extensive experience from transaction work within for example the energy and public utilities sector. He is a member of the ICC Sweden Commission on Environment and Energy and is also Hammarskiöld & Co’s representative, and the sole Swedish member, in the Energy Law Group; a network of lawyers specialising in energy and natural resources law from independent law firms.

Career

Service with Swedish Courts: Södra Roslags District Court 1993-1995, Svea Court of Appeal, 1995-1997. Employment with law firms in Stockholm since 1997. Secondment with Clifford Chance, London 2001-2002. Advokatfirman Hammarskiöld & Co (1998 - present).

The M&A team at Hammarskiöld has experience handling domestic and cross-border transactions and provides its clients with 'high-quality advice and excellent service levels'. Erik Löfwall and Jakob Falkman advised Altor Fund IV on its acquisition of BTI Studios from Carlyle; the department also handled multiple matters for Euroapotheca. Peder Hammarskiöld leads the practice, Magnus Bohman re-joined the group from an in-house position at PwC and Erik Fahlgren is praised for being 'very dedicated, hardworking, and an intelligent drafter'.

Hammarskiöld is increasingly involved in M&A-related work and also provides regulatory advice in the energy sector; the team assisted Folksam with its acquisition of Fortum’s electricity distribution business in Sweden. Practice head Jakob Falkman is well versed in the renewable energy and energy-tech sectors, and Lars Ulrichs is experienced in energy-related disputes.
