Maria Esbensen is working in Kvale’s group for EU/EEA and competition law and regularly assists clients with advice in amongst other things Norwegian and EU/EEA competition law, state aid, public procurement and general EU/EEA law.

Maria has extensive experience in all areas within competition law nationally and internationally, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance issues, assessments of different kinds of cooperation agreements, joint ventures and various distribution arrangements, as well as other competition law compliance questions such as exchange of information. Maria has particularly long experience with assisting private corporations under scrutiny and investigation by the competition authorities and she regularly assists in all phases of the investigation, including all strategic questions during the investigative phase, possible leniency questions, assistance during unannounced inspections (Dawn Raids) and answering requests for information from the authorities. She also assist with appeals against decisions from the authority. Furthermore she has vast experience in assisting in third party follow on claims.
