Position

Nigel specialises in financial services licensing and the structuring of investment products and funds, including tax driven work. He is frequently instructed by leading international law firms and financial institutions. A regular contributor of financial services articles and speaker at International Conferences. In 1998 he set up Hassans Repackaging and Structured Finance Practice. He helped to draft the relevant legislation that opened the way for the Gibraltar insurance sector (1997) and is a market leader in Gibraltar on the provision of legal advice on the issues relative to 'insurance passporting' and the structuring of insurance companies. He has been referred to as "a leading figure in the financial community for a number of years" and as having "played a major part in some of the most significant developments in the Gibraltar finance sector.".

Career

Nigel is an author and co-author of a number of books including “Protected Cell Companies: a guide to their implementation and use” – the leading reference work on protected cell companies.

English and Spanish.

Education

Graduated with a First Class Honours degree from Manchester University and awarded a Masters degree in Law with Distinction at Manchester Victoria University. Called to the Bar in 1993 he became a Partner of Hassans in 1999.
