Position

Rezan is counsel and Head of the Transfer Pricing practice at Houthoff. He advises his clients on business restructurings, intellectual property, headquarter cost allocation models, financial transactions, dispute management and resolution. He has significant experience in advance pricing agreements, tax audits, mutual agreement procedures and court proceedings.

He started his career at a Big 4 firm and also worked as a global in-house transfer pricing specialist at leading telecommunications and technology companies Liberty Global and VEON. Rezan has a 360-degree perspective due to having worked both as an adviser and in-house specialist. This unique combination of knowledge and experience gained on both sides of the table is at the heart of how he advises clients. With a clear vision and technically sound approach, he knows when to go the extra mile or be pragmatic to get buy-in from all the relevant stakeholders.

In addition to being a fellow at the University of Amsterdam’s Advanced LL.M. programme in International Tax Law, Rezan teaches Transfer Pricing Masterclasses at IBFD. He is a regular speaker at conferences and has written several articles focusing on the transfer pricing aspects of intangibles and cost contribution arrangements. He has also authored a book and co-authored various transfer pricing books.

Rezan is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (Nederlandse Orde van Belastingadviseurs) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).

Cross-border tax mandates form the basis of Dentons’ practice, which brings strength to transactional, transfer pricing and tax controversy matters. Rezan Ökten joined the team from Houthoff in June 2023 to head the transfer pricing team, advising on restructurings, headquarters cost allocation models and contentious matters. Wesley Boldewijn joined the partnership in April 2023, with a focus on digital economy taxation and transfer pricing.

The real estate team at Dentons handles a mixture of transactional, commercial leasing and disputes work for its varied client base of international and domestic companies. The practice has also been assisting international real estate investors in acquisitions and cross-border matters. Team lead Dirk-Jan Gondrie is specialised in real estate transactions and advises both Dutch and international investors on real estate sales, acquisitions, leasing and restructurings. Notable team members include Wendela Raas, who is known for her skills in commercial leasing matters; Paul Wanders, who handles both transactions and litigation; and Jeroen le Clercq, who is a key contact for landlord and tenant and rent disputes. Femke de Wolf assists the team in all matters. Further strengthening the practice, Rezan Ökten joined the firm in June 2023 from Houthoff.
