Ben Barnes is a commercial trial lawyer who leads the Dallas office of Dowd Bennett LLP. He represents clients in complex business and energy litigation, with a focus on indemnification and insurance coverage, force majeure, midstream agreements, joint operating agreements, catastrophic industrial incidents, and high-value commercial contract disputes.
Ben routinely handles matters involving substantial financial exposure, including in significant matters pending in the newly-formed Texas Business Court. His client base includes private equity sponsors, chemical and industrial manufacturers, upstream and midstream energy companies, and other businesses navigating bet-the-company litigation.
Before joining Dowd Bennett, Ben was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He is a Barrister in the Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court and serves on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Energy Law. Ben also sits on the National Council for the Washington University School of Law and the Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Cabinet for Washington University in St. Louis.
