Kings Chambers is home to a team of ‘barristers with unparalleled talent in catastrophic injury work’. At the silk end of chambers, Nicholas Braslavsky KC is ‘someone you want on your side with a catastrophic claim especially when the stakes are high’, and Michael Rawlinson KC is ‘a walking encyclopaedia of case law’. Gerard McDermott KC has an excellent reputation for handling catastrophic injury claims. Among the juniors, Fiona Ashworth, who clients praise as ‘the ’go to’ barrister in cases involving chronic complex pain‘, was instructed in a personal injury claim where the claimant developed treatment-resistant functional neurological disorder after being struck by a beach parasol while on holiday; the claimant was awarded £650,000. Simon Plaut’s workload includes handling cases involving disease claims, fatal accidents and amputations.

Profile

Position

Michael’s main area of practice arises from claims where historic exposure to any bodily insult is argued to have led to late-onset sequelae. Predominantly this arises in respect of asbestos exposure leading to the contraction of cancer but there are few toxic agents which he has not encountered in litigation.
