Northern Circuit
Garden Court North Chambers brings cross-sectoral experience in a range of public law fields to their immigration practice, leading on immigration, asylum and citizenship appeals in the Upper Tribunal and the higher courts, and with particular command of the application of the European Convention on Human Rights to immigration cases. Kerry Smith leads on an array of appeals, particularly those pertaining to ECHR Article 3 and the Mental Health Act 1983, with prominent recent work acting on behalf of Palestinian claimants in deportation appeals, and Mikhil Karnik focuses his practice on representing vulnerable clients in unlawful detention judicial reviews. Before being called to the Bar in 2005, Mikhil spent 15 years providing advice, guidance and consultancy on technical environmental and health and safety matters.
