Career
Louisa Sherlock is dual qualified in dentistry and law, and practised as a dental surgeon for over a decade, both within the NHS and privately. She also completed a two year diploma to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London.
Louisa was called to the Bar and commenced pupillage in 2018, and commenced tenancy in 2019. She accepts instructions from Claimants and Defendants in all aspects of Clinical Negligence work with experience in excess of her year of Call, and with a keen interest in dental negligence cases. She can readily understand the terminology used in medical and dental records.
As well as drafting advices, pleadings and schedules, and representing clients in court, Louisa is also adept at holding conferences with experts. She is able to challenge allegations made, and also work with experts to clarify and properly particularise breaches of duty and causation.
Louisa provides lectures to solicitors, dentists and expert witnesses, and cross examines expert witnesses as part of their assessments with the Expert Witness Institute. She has successfully argued Daniels v Walker at trial.

In addition to her Clinical Negligence work, Louisa represents clients at multi day inquest hearings (both on instruction from solicitors and on a direct access basis), acts in fast track and multi-track personal injury matters, and represents the Nursing and Midwifery Council in regulatory matters. In addition, she is a fully qualified mediator, and has represented clients at mediations.
