Working across the firm’s Mexico City and Monterrey locations, the bankruptcy practice at Galicia Abogados S.C. is frequently involved in restructurings, distressed asset transactions, and preventive financial restructuring, acting on behalf of both creditors and creditors. Additional pillars of practice include advising on the restructuring of sovereign debt, and the provision of transactional advice – covering leveraged buyouts, distressed M&A, corporate break-ups and spin-offs, divestitures and distressed financing. Monterrey-based Eugenio Sepúlveda co-leads the team from the Monterrey office and handles banking, M&A, project finance, and restructuring mandates. Also in Monterrey, senior associate Andrés Caro de la Fuente assists across the gamut of restructuring matters. Disputes partner Rodrigo Zamora co-leads from Mexico City. Andrés joined Galicia in 2017 as an associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency practice.
At the Firm, he has participated in debt and corporate restructurings, whether it be at the conciliation or liquidation stages, both within and outside of court-conducted bankruptcy proceedings. Additionally, he has participated in civil and commercial litigations, financings and M&A transactions as well as anticorruption and compliance investigations.
Before joining Galicia, he was at another Mexican law firm, working in civil, commercial and constitutional litigation proceedings. He also did a six-month internship at the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
He has taught the Bankruptcy, Commercial Procedure, Legal English, Amparo Actions and Legal Reasoning courses at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León for over four years.
