Hogan Lovells US LLP is a Latin America stalwart with an established record in energy and infrastructure M&A, along with deals across multiple sectors. Much of its corporate and M&A practice centres on Mexico and Brazil, although it frequently advises on multinational transactions that involve Latin America jurisdictions along with cross-border deals in the region. The Sao Paulo team, in particular, has worked on a number of headline transactions in recent years, including as part of a global team advising HDI International on its acquisition of the Latin American business of Liberty Mutual Insurance, which involved assets in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador; the department has a particularly strong record in financial services and insurance. Isabel Costa Carvalho continues to make an impression in Sao Paulo alongside Jonathan Lewis, who joined the firm in 2024 from Shearman & Sterling (now A&O Shearman). Mexico City-based Carlos Ramos has a fine record in energy transactions and other deals involving Mexico. Jorge Diaz-Silveira heads the Miami office and leads the infrastructure, energy, natural resources and projects practice; he has an established record in multi-industry M&A transactions throughout Latin America. Juan Francisco Torres Landa is another experienced M&A practitioner in the Mexico City office.
