Career

Alexandre brings extensive transactional and regulatory experience across the oil and gas value chain, with a portfolio spanning onshore and offshore concession agreements, production sharing contracts, JOAs, farm-in and farm-out operations, and crude marketing arrangements. He is equally well-versed in Brazil’s natural gas regulatory framework, advising on transportation agreements, gas sale and purchase contracts, and third-party access to essential midstream infrastructure for evacuation and processing. His practice frequently addresses market design and structural issues in Brazil’s evolving natural gas sector.

Over the course of his career, Alexandre has acted on corporate and asset acquisitions exceeding US$15 billion in aggregate value, and has been a key advisor in complex regulatory debates, including matters linked to the regulatory framework governing the world’s largest ethanol pipeline. He also advises on the acquisition and development of mining projects in Brazil and abroad, covering critical minerals as well as gold, iron ore, manganese, potash, and diamonds. In the decarbonization arena, he counsels on the structuring of first-of-their-kind carbon capture and storage initiatives.

Beyond client work, Alexandre is engaged in legal education and corporate training. He is the author of multiple publications on oil and gas, the energy transition, and carbon capture, and frequently lectures for public and private institutions in Brazil and internationally. He is an active participant in pro bono groups supporting minorities and vulnerable communities and is a committed advocate for initiatives that promote diversity within Brazil’s legal services market.
