On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the California Assembly Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection held a hearing on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This was the first legislative hearing ever on the law, and the first committee report was released; see here. Two days later, an attorney general (AG)-backed amendment bill was submitted that proposes to eliminate the act's 30-day opportunity to cure violations and greatly expands the private right of action.
