WIPO Announces New Certification And Legalization Services

As of August 1, 2013, the World Intellectual Property Organization now offers new certification and legalization services to users of the Madrid trademark system.

As of August 1, 2013, the World Intellectual Property Organization ("WIPO") now offers new certification and legalization services to users of the Madrid trademark system.  Specifically, for the payment of a fee, trademark registrants may now acquire:

  • Certified copies of international trademark registrations and certificates of renewal, reflecting the goods and services at the time of registration and renewal, respectively;
  • Certified extracts of the goods and services currently covered by a particular international registration  – on an expedited basis (i.e., within five business days of the request); and
  • Legalized certified extracts of the goods and services currently covered by a particular international registration for production in non-contracting parties to the Madrid system, which require such documentation.
