It is a great honour to be appointed President of ICSA's
Irish Region and I hope I can continue the excellent work of Past
Presidents.
As I stated at our annual lunch in November, I am keen that we
increase both the profile of the company secretary and grow the
number of qualified and affiliate company secretaries in
Ireland. This goal will be achieved through ICSA: The
Governance Institute's partnership with professional bodies
such as the Law Society and the Institute of Bankers.
The Companies Act 2014, which has been in force for just over a
year and a half, as well as legislation originating from the EU
coupled with evolving and ever more stringent corporate governance
requirements, has resulted in a real need for more ICSA qualified
company secretaries to:
