Thailand Moves To Replace Hotel Act To Allow Other Types Of Accommodations
Thailand has proposed a draft Accommodation Establishments Act that would replace the outdated Hotel Act of 2004 with a modern three-tier regulatory framework designed to bring homestays, tents, hostels, and sharing-economy rentals into the formal system. The draft introduces consolidated licensing for large operators, consumer protection measures including cancellation rights and prohibitions on unfair contract terms, and scaled regulatory requirements based on establishment size.
