Increase in the monthly employer contribution

Effective January 2026, the monthly employer contribution rate for Bahraini nationals employed in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries has been increased by 1%, bringing the total contribution for employees and employers to 22% of pensionable salary. This continues Bahrain's current policy of increasing the employer contribution rate by 1% annually between 2023 and 2028.

As before, the maximum monthly employer contribution rate for Bahraini nationals employed in other GCC countries may not exceed the contribution rate for local employees in that country. If the contribution rate for local employees in that country is lower, Bahraini employees must pay the difference themselves to ensure that a total contribution of 22% of pensionable salary is achieved.
