New mobile app for collecting biometric data from certain eligible visa applicants

The Department of Home Affairs expanded access to the app to another 13 countries, making the app available in 47 countries. Further expansion is expected.

Earlier, in early December 2025, the Department of Home Affairs announced that the "Australian Immi App" was available in 34 countries following its expansion at that time. Since then, eligible visa applicants worldwide have been able to use the app to submit facial data and passport information directly from their smartphones. This digital process eliminates the need for in person visits to data collection centers and is offered free of charge.
