Valuations are often considered to be exercises that involve figures obtained from financial statements, market figures, projections, and standard methods like the DCF method, market multiple methods, and asset methods. But the figures used in these methods are not independent of the people behind them. Management, investors, shareholders, and deal makers can affect the assumptions involved in valuations without actually affecting the method of valuation.

Setting up a business in Egypt is not only a question of registering a company. For foreign investors, one of the most important decisions comes before incorporation: choosing the right legal structure. However, there is more to this valuation process than the mathematical part; there are several judgments involved.

Valuation is commonly seen as producing one exact figure, yet valuation differences are common because two competent valuers, who have experience, may perform valuations of the same company, property, or transaction and come up with different figures, none of which will be wrong.
