Canada To Launch Express Entry Immigration System

On January 1, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is launching the new Express Entry program. Applications under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) will be processed under this new program. Applicants will no longer be able to apply directly for permanent residence through the FSWP, FSTP or CEC but will have to wait until CIC extends them an invitation to apply (ITA) based on CIC's assessment of the information the applicants will be required to enter in an online system.

Applications for permanent residence submitted to the FSWP, FSTP and CEC¹ prior to January 1, 2015, will be processed under the current regime.
