Career

Cerys specialises in Civil Litigation and Family Finance.

Her Civil Litigation practice covers traditional Chancery work, including Trusts, Probate and Land disputes, and Commercial disputes featuring Landlord and Tenant and Insolvency. She has extensive experience in housing matters, having appeared in courts up to and including the Court of Appeal, and routinely advises parties upon both Welsh and English housing law.

Additionally, Cerys has substantial Public Law and Inquiry experience, regularly acting on behalf of local authorities and Government.

She is ranked as a Tier 1 Leading Junior in Social Housing in the 2023 edition of the Legal 500, and is also listed as Band 2 in Social Housing in the UK Bar 2024 edition of Chambers and Partners.

Her Family Finance practice comprises divorce, financial remedy and ToLATA / cohabitation matters.

Cerys has been appointed to the A Panel of the Welsh Government Panel of Approved Counsel. Her appointment runs for five years from 1st March 2021. In 2019, she was appointed to the Equality and Human Rights Commission Panel of Approved Counsel.

She accepts instructions in public access matters in appropriate cases relating to civil litigation only.

Cerys’ family practice focuses on financial remedy and Schedule 1 applications.

She also has a particular interest in ‘cohabitation’ matters under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.  Her dual family and civil practice mean that she is well placed to advise upon the procedural rules in both areas and in those cases where there are linked Lands Tribunal proceedings.
