Position

Henry Warwick KC is a leading practitioner at the Bar in England & Wales.  He specialises in commercial disputes, group actions and collective redress, and, among other areas, civil fraud, banking and financial services.

Henry has particular expertise in large scale multi-party actions. He acted for the successful claimants in The Post Office Group Litigation, for GSK in the Seroxat Group Litigation and for claimants and defendants alike in a range of financial services, consumer law, and environmental claims.

Henry is instructed in high value commercial cases in the Business and Property Courts and in arbitrations in London and elsewhere.  His practice ranges from civil fraud and insolvency claims such as London Capital & Finance Plc v. Thompson & others and sovereign wealth fund litigation Libyan Investment Authority v. King & others, to claims arising from corporate restructuring, shareholder, agency, JV and other investment disputes. These are in major sectors including aviation and aircraft leasing, automotive, oil and gas and technology.   He has particular expertise in the economic torts, is a commentator on the law in this area and acted in leading cases YLL v Therium, and Chevron Corporation v. Amazonia.

Henry is routinely instructed in costs and funding disputes associated with the above.  He is trusted by household name professional funders in their own disputes, and with respect to prospective or ongoing investments. Henry represented UK nationals in the remaining 27 EU member states in R (Miller & others) v Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union [2017] UKSC 6, and in a challenge to EU measures inhibiting Brexit negotiations in Fair Deal v Commission (T-713/16). He appears in all divisions of the High Court, in appeals, arbitrations and in mediations; he also acts in claims conducted in offshore jurisdictions including Gibraltar and the Isle of Man.

Career

KC 2020. Prior to the Bar, commercial litigation solicitor at Linklaters LLP (qualified 2000). Latterly, Legal Counsel at Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. There he worked with a range of international tribunals including in the Eurotunnel Arbitration, maritime boundary disputes such as Guyana v. Suriname, and in other public international law cases. LLM Cambridge University, Jesus College (2005, First Class); Judicial Assistant to Lord Nichols and Lord Hope (2000); Bristol University (1996, First Class).
