Ruth was called to the Bar in 2014. She had previously practiced as a Solicitor having qualified in 2006 and was a member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel.

Ruth is a specialist family law barrister. She is regularly instructed in all aspects of family law, including both children and financial remedies proceedings.

Ruth provides pragmatic straightforward advice while maintaining an empathetic approach to her clients. She is often praised for her thorough preparation and strong advocacy.

Financial Remedy Proceedings

Ruth undertakes a wide range of financial remedies work, dealing with parties who have modest assets as well as those who hold more complex assets in multiple jurisdictions.

Ruth has been involved in cases involving non-disclosure of assets, , dissipation of assets, Confiscation proceedings and enforcement proceedings.

She can provide pre-proceedings advice and consultation.

Private Children

Ruth is regularly instructed in all aspects of private children disputes. She acts in matters involving complex contact and residence disputes, parental alienation and issues of parental responsibility, including schooling and change of name. Ruth often represents parents at fact-finding hearings where there have been allegations of domestic abuse and sexual abuse.

Public Children Law

Ruth has been involved in cases with issues of sexual abuse, physical abuse, deprivation of liberty, drug and alcohol issues, domestic abuse and neglect. She has represented parties with significant mental health difficulties including the loss of litigation capacity and parties with learning difficulties,

She accepts instructions on behalf of parents, grandparents, children and local authorities.

Ruth is qualified to accept instructions under the Bar Council Public Access scheme.
