Career

Laura Ulate is the manager of the Intellectual Property and Regulatory Department at EY LAW.

In her role, she manages international portfolios, handling cases related to trademarks, copyrights and related rights, patents, utility models, and industrial designs. She also participates in the drafting and review of contracts, mergers, legal opinions, and the development of strategies for the protection of intangibles. She provides advice on the transfer, acquisition, and licensing of intellectual property rights, as well as on issues of intellectual property infringement and unfair competition. Additionally, she is responsible for the protection of trade secrets, know-how, image rights, and confidentiality agreements.

Furthermore, she has experience in regulatory matters, offering advice on regulatory compliance, registration processes, renewals, post-registration changes, and assignment of products. She also manages health alerts with regulatory authorities.

Education

Laura holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the Latina university of Costa Rica, a specialization in Notarial and Registry Law from the International University of the Americas, and a master's degree in project management from the La Salle Ramón Llull university in Barcelona.
