Career
Fernando Castillo is partner at Nader Hayaux & Goebel and specializes in project finance, energy and infrastructure, capital markets, banking and finance, and real estate. He represents domestic and international clients (financial institutions, investors, multilateral agencies, government entities, sponsors, issuers and underwriters) in a wide range of cross-border transactions in the energy and infrastructure sector, including project development and finance, hybrid bond/loan and multi-source financings, project and corporate bond issuances, structured finance, private placements, securitizations, and syndicated loan transactions, as well as related matters of mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
He has represented financial and corporate clients in a wide range of sectors, such as toll roads, ports, railroads, water, hospitals, public transportation, oil & gas, power and renewable energy, including infrastructure projects under the public-private partnership scheme (PPP).
Additionally, Fernando has experience in real estate transactions relating to commercial, industrial and residential developments, tourism and leisure projects (hotels, resorts, time-share regimes and mixed-use developments). He has participated in the structuring and implementation of real estate investment trusts (REITs), development capital certificates (CKDs), private equity funds and other financial investment vehicles for the real estate sector.
From 2019 to 2022, Fernando worked as an associate at the New York offices of Clifford Chance US LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was a member of the Latin America practice group advising clients on the following areas: Projects, Energy & Infrastructure, Capital Markets, and Banking & Finance.
Fernando received an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School (2017), having graduated with honors as Attorney from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (2013), where he was President of the Law Students Association (2012-2013). Fernando is admitted to practice law in Mexico and New York.
