Acting for multinational pharmaceutical, veterinary, cosmetic, food and agro-industrial companies, the recent track record of Jara Del Favero Abogados' eight-strong pharmaceutical and life sciences department includes advising on data privacy, regulatory issues, antitrust and the labelling of food and pharmaceutical products. The team also assists high-profile clients (such as AstraZeneca) on a daily basis with regulatory matters, tenders and clinical trials (among other matters). The practice is co-led by Manuel Jiménez Pfingsthorn, whose broad practice includes acting for agro-industry companies (vineyards and seeds), laboratories and drugs companies; and Andrea Abascal Marin (a partner since 2020 ), who is highly regarded for her regulatory experience in markets such as pharmaceutical laboratories, cosmetics, food, medical devices, biotechnology, and agricultural and livestock services. The five-member team also assists with building permits and related administrative procedures, construction works, sales and leases. Leading the firm’s real estate and M&A departments, Sven Herlin regularly advises international real estate companies looking to invest in Chile; and Julio Trucco, director of the real estate practice since early 2021, acts on real estate projects, business structuring, due diligence and contractual matters. Former associate María Carolina Concha recently departed the firm.

With over 25 years’ experience in corporate finance law, Jara Del Favero Abogados houses experts in both domestic and international corporate finance and structured deals. Felipe Ovalle, who acts for borrowers, purchasers, sellers, investors and financial advisers, co-heads the practice with real estate and technology finance specialist Sven Herlin and bond-offerings expert Alvaro Caviedes. Former associate practice-director, capital markets specialist Christian Schiessler, was raised to the partnership in July 2022; he also regularly assists with the structuring of financing operations.

The practice is jointly led by Sven Herlin, whose track record includes corporate reorganisations, and acquisitions in Chile and abroad; Felipe Ovalle, whose broad practice includes mining industry matters; and Alvaro Caviedes, who advises on the establishment of investment funds and the structuring of deals entered into by such funds. Providing notable support are commercial, corporate and regulated markets expert Andrea Abascal; and real estate practice director Julio Trucco; while associate Marina Junge is a commercial, corporate and property law specialist.

The ‘excellent' four-member tax team at Jara del Favero Abogados assists both companies and individuals with tax planning, reorganisations and compliance matters, as well as day-to-day issues. The group’s work also includes defending clients before both the Tax Authority and the courts, and recent growth includes advising individuals and family groups on private wealth law, including establishing alliances with multi-family offices and investment banks. Tax and corporate head Rafael Valdivieso is a tax reorganisation and structuring specialist, and associate Martín Hudson's practice includes tax advisory, tax planning and audits.

Jara del Favero Abogados houses several experts in civil and commercial disputes, administrative claims, and competition and antitrust litigation; the practice additionally acts in commercial and investment arbitrations. The department is co-led by Manuel Jimenez, an expert in mediation, arbitration and competition law, who routinely acts for agro-industry and pharmaceutical laboratory clients; and Manuel Bernet who was raised to the partnership in July 2022 and whose litigation experience covers the food, biotechnology, gambling, and agricultural and livestock-services industries. Key associate support is provided by senior Maximiliano Silva H (contentious administrative matters), a late-2021 recruit from the legal department of Chile’s Ministry of Health; civil and commercial litigation expert Ramón Jara C; and Pablo Alarcón , who handles civil, constitutional, and antitrust and competition law.
