Career

Juan Martín Alarcón joined the firm in 2017 and is currently an associate in the Natural Resources, Energy and Infrastructure Unit. His professional practice focuses primarily on the mining sector, with extensive experience in administrative, regulatory, and dispute resolution matters related to natural resources and large-scale extractive projects.

He has advised international clients on the acquisition, structuring, and development of strategic mining projects in Ecuador, including the negotiation of contractual, regulatory, and environmental frameworks. Juan Martín has been a member of the negotiating teams for the Cascabel and Cangrejos mining exploitation contracts, two of the most significant mining projects in the country.

His work also includes advising on illegal mining enforcement processes, environmental liability proceedings, and contentious-administrative cases involving mining concessions and state entities. He has led and participated in numerous due diligence processes and assists clients in obtaining and maintaining environmental and operational licenses required for the execution of mining projects.
