Career

Alfonso is an attorney with over 20 years of experience in intellectual property. He currently serves as the Director of the Intellectual Property Department at Tobar ZVS in Ecuador and holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from the University of Alicante.

Additionally, he is a mediator at the Mediation Center of the Quito Chamber of Commerce. He is also a mediator for INTA and a member of its Mediation Subcommittee. Furthermore, he delivers training courses on the subject.

Between 2022 and 2025 he served as the Coordinator of Activities in the Andean Community countries within the European Union’s Intellectual Property Project (IP Key Latin America), which is managed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). In this role, he was responsible for organizing events to promote the resolution of intellectual property disputes through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods.

In early 2025 he returned in a full-time capacity to the firm.
