Dispute resolution Tier 1
Arias' Honduran dispute resolution practice is widely respected for both court and arbitral hearings, labour, civil and commercial law matters, and administrative law proceedings. Active key clients are Lear Automotive, Chevron Caribbean, Walmart and Decameron. The team acted for Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana, which operates Puerto Cortes (an important seaport), in a claim against Chiquita Honduras Company that demanded compensatory damages and related rates charged to port users. In other matters, the practice defended Spain's clothing design and manufacturing company Punto Fa (trading as Mango) against a case by a former franchisee in Honduras, Eurocomer, which claimed contract termination damages. Another highlight was assisting Pan-American Life Insurance Group with five civil lawsuits that were filed by collective insurance beneficiaries to seek damages and judicial costs. Fanny Rodríguez heads the dispute resolution department which includes notable associate Erick Lezama.
Intellectual property Tier 2
Arias advises on both non-contentious IP matters, including trade mark, patent and sanitary registrations, as well as the enforceability of IP rights, including copyright infringement.
