Clare is an employment law Partner and leads the Chelmsford Employment Team.

Clare has specialised in employment law for more than 20 years and advises a wide range of employers and senior executives on contentious and non-contentious employment-related issues, including restrictive covenants, senior executives’ contracts and exit packages.

Acting for national, international and regionally based clients, Clare regularly advises on complex redundancy and restructuring strategies as well as unfair dismissal, discrimination claims and other statutory claims in the Employment Tribunal. She also has considerable experience of TUPE.

Clare has advised clients across a wide range of industries and has particular experience of working with employers in the construction, insurance and financial services sectors.

An accredited CEDR (Council of Effective Dispute Resolution) Mediator, Clare is a key member of the Birketts Resolve Team, specialising in mediation services.

She is a regular speaker at our employment law seminars and delivers bespoke training to employer clients, their senior managers and dedicated people teams.

After qualifying as a Solicitor in 1993, Clare worked as a litigator for a City based practice, joining Birketts in 1999.
