Career

Benedict Eoon is an accomplished disputes lawyer who specialises in complex, high-value commercial litigation and international arbitration. He also maintains an active white-collar crime and investigations practice.

With extensive experience before the Singapore courts, Benedict has represented multinational corporations, government-linked institutions, and ultra-high-net worth individuals in high-profile and landmark cases. He has also handled arbitrations under leading institutions, including the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Benedict has practised in Singapore’s largest law firms, and has been recognised as a “talented and driven lawyer” who “displays maturity and excellence in his work, and is tenacious in advancing his clients’ causes.”

Benedict was a past member of the Law Society Criminal Practice Committee and the Supreme Court Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences.

He was previously a Legal Skills Tutor in the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. Benedict represented the National University of Singapore in the 2010 Jean Pictet International Moot Competition in Canada where he won the Best Speaker prize. He was also the national top scorer in the 2002 GCE O Level examinations.

Representing a government-linked healthcare institution in a nine-figure arbitration claim against a service provider. Representing a businessman in an eight-figure arbitration claim against a previous business partner. Representing a Singapore company in a trade dispute with one of the largest chaebols in South Korea.

Commercial Disputes

Representing a leading local airport investor and consulting firm in an eight-figure international dispute that involved government-linked institutions. Representing a Saudi company in obtaining an eight-figure decision in a cross-border fraud asset recovery claim. Representing a prominent individual in a family dispute that involved more than S$300m in assets.

White-Collar Crime & Investigations

Representing a broker in a securities case that involved unauthorised trades with a notional value of up to S$500 million. Representing an employee in a corruption trial that involved Hyflux. Representing three directors in a high-profile fraud case that involved more than 80 charges, which led to an acquittal for one of the directors and a landmark Court of Appeal judgment that recognised a common law right of access to documents in Singapore. Representing an accused person in a murder appeal before the Court of Appeal, where the death penalty was successfully reduced to life imprisonment. Representing various multinational corporations in anti-fraud and anti-corruption investigation work that involved Singapore and overseas operations.

Construction

Representing a main contractor in obtaining an eight-figure decision in a construction dispute that involved one of Malaysia’s largest data centres. Representing a leading government-linked Malaysian construction and property development company in their various construction disputes. Representing homeowners in a six-figure negligence claim against an adjacent developer for damages caused to their home.
