Practice areas
Banking and finance: Our firm has advised and represented public and private, domestic, and foreign financial institutions in structuring financing for infrastructure projects, acquisition of productive assets, and foreign trade operations, among others. We prepare the loan documents and design solid and efficient guarantee schemes to make the recovery process viable. Our area director, Dr Boanerges Rodríguez Freire, has extensive experience in the financial sector and has advised multilateral organizations in the structuring of public debt operations.

Corporate and insurance: Our firm provides comprehensive legal advice to local and international business groups, from the beginning of the operation and during the development of the business. Mr Boanerges Rodríguez Velásquez, area director, has experience in advising multinational companies and local business groups in the design of corporate structures and corporate governance. Our advice in the corporate area includes the negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts, drafting shareholders agreements, administration of corporate books, advice in administrative procedures before the controlling body of the corporate sector and regulatory agencies. We also advise entities that operate in the stock market and companies of the national private insurance system, in the corporate and regulatory aspects, as well as in the relationship with the oversight and control body.

Litigation: We have extensive experience in advising and representing the interests of our clients in complex litigation at the national level, in all judicial instances. Our area director, Mr Juan Pablo Alava Loor, has successfully litigated in civil, commercial, contentious-administrative and tax litigation, among others. We advise our clients to prevent conflicts and, in case they are taken to court, we design the appropriate strategy and defend our clients, with notable success, before judges, tribunals and local courts.

Mergers and acquisitions: We have advised foreign groups in complex acquisitions involving multiple jurisdictions, including Ecuador. We have experience in handling these types of processes and interacting with foreign firms.
