Interview with…
NASSER AL-ADBA, OMANI & PARTNERS LAW FIRM LLP

What has been your greatest achievement, in a professional and personal capability?
My greatest achievement is the value of my reputation in Middle East as an arbitrator and Counsel. That reputation qualified me to lead one of the most important institution worldwide in Arbitration and conflict management (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ciarb) – Qatar Branch). I do also believe on one of my greatest achievements is to be an educator (where I can transfer the values and knowledge to others) so I engaged with one of the most prestigious education institutions in Qatar. I am full assistant professor teaching the university students both arbitration and ADR modules in Qatar University (the National University in Qatar). In addition, we established Omani & Partners LLP which became one of top-tier law firms in the region. We have cases in all GCC countries as well as we are opining new two branches in Iraq and KSA to supply the demand there.
What do you do differently from your peers in the industry?
I am focused and eager to achieve the extra mile. Very interested in knowledge, details and that which makes me who I became today. That led to my appointment in more than 300 arbitration cases in Middle East and abroad.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Keep doing the good job!
Can you give me a practical example of how helped a client add value to the business?
A client has many problems with his business partner and that, at that time, will lead to send the successful 30 years company, to be under liquidation.
The client contacted Omani & Partners LLP and asked our help to conciliate on the matter between them. We did the conciliation and successfully saved the company on a scientific and practical guidance on both of them, which they both now became our friends and clients.
Within your sector, what do you think will be the biggest challenge for clients over the next 12 months?
We do believe the biggest challenge will be the money collection in construction sector. With huge claims by contractors and the rejection by the clients, the dilemma lay in between and might escalate that to the court or arbitration. In addition, we can see the assets smuggling by losing party. We are one of very few firms that specialized in asset tracking and allocating in Qatar.
