Career

Romain Maulin qualified as a lawyer at the Paris Bar in 2009. With academic training in prestigious universities in France (Université Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sciences Po Paris) and in England (University of Westminster in London), and after spending more than 10 years in the competition law departments of top-tier law firms (Herbert Smith Freehills, Allen & Overy, Dechert), Romain Maulin founded Maulin Avocats in 2018. The team currently has 1 Partner, 3 Associates, and 2 trainee lawyers.

Romain Maulin also teaches competition law at the Paris Bar School and at the universities of Paris-Saclay and Saint-Étienne. As a thought leader, he has, to date, published more than 30 books and articles in leading French and international journals on competition law.

Romain Maulin has been recognized by the international ranking Finance Monthly as Competition Lawyer of the year in 2021 for his successful representation of the Biocodex laboratory before the French Competition Authority in the context of its acquisition of Iprad Laboratories. He has also been recognized as one of the best competition law specialists in France by the Guide to the World's Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers and was the youngest antitrust lawyer ever to be included in this ranking.
