Career

Karen De Braekeleer has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2000 and has 20 years of experience as a lawyer in the public sector. Karen is Head of Public and Administrative Law at KPMG Law and specialises in public law, public procurement law, public private partnerships, ESA 2010 and contract law.  She advises numerous public entities on their questions of public law, ranging from their procurement (public contracts), to their investments (PPP), DBFM contracts, E.S.R. neutrality, processes of corporatisation, administrative simplification, joint ventures, etc.

In the public sector, Karen advises both on federal level and state level - both Flemish and Brussels. She has also assisted various cities and municipalities, as well as other administrative authorities and public companies. Amongst her clients are also different hospital networks and health care institutions. Karen also regularly assists local authorities on legal issues relating to their inter-municipal partnerships.
