
Johanna Büstgens
Dr. Johanna Büstgens acts as counsel in arbitration and state court proceedings. She has represented domestic and foreign companies in domestic and international arbitration proceedings and DAB proceedings. She also acted as arbitrator and secretary to arbitral tribunals in more than 20 domestic and international arbitration proceedings which included large-volume and complex proceedings. Furthermore, her track-record includes the representation of domestic and foreign companies in cross-border litigation proceedings before German courts and in proceedings for the enforcement of arbitral awards. The focus of her practice is energy law (in particular disputes involving long-term energy supply contracts and price adjustments), construction & engineering (including FIDIC model contracts), international trade and distribution law and international commercial and sales law as well as private international law, law of international civil procedure and comparative law. Johanna studied at Bucerius Law School and the University of Oxford (Brasenose College). She holds a doctorate of law from Bucerius Law School in the field of international arbitration for which she completed a research stay at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her legal traineeship inter alia at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. Currently, Johanna is a co-chair of DIS40, the below-40 organization of the German Arbitration Institute (DIS). Her working languages are German and English.
