Career
1999-2005 Trainee and Assistant Solicitor – Martineau Johnson
Qualified September 2001
2005-2019 Associate and Senior Associate – Pinsent Masons LLP
2019-2024 Partner – Irwin Mitchell LLP
2024-to date Partner – Hill Dickinson LLP
I qualified in 2001 and spent the first six years of my career at Martineau Johnson. I moved to Pinsent Masons in 2005 where I got some fantastic experience and worked with some very impressive people. I joined Irwin Mitchell as a partner in 2019 and, together with Nick Dawson, we have grown our fantastic team of colleagues in Birmingham and had the opportunity to nurture some great relationships with some very loyal clients. We moved to Hill Dickinson as a team in early 2024 and have spent the past year continuing to support our clients and develop the team.
The proudest moments in my career to date are:
completing the acquisition of Motor Parts Direct for Motus for circa £190 million in 2022. Having acted for Motus for more than a decade, this was by far Motus’ biggest and most strategically important transaction. As ever, the client was under significant pressure to complete the deal within a tight deadline. A fantastic team effort from the corporate and real estate teams in particular, meant that we were able to deliver a successful outcome for the clients; and successfully make the move to Hill Dickinson in early 2024 as a founding partner of the new Birmingham office. The loyalty, support and trust I received from both colleagues and clients who made the move with me, as well as new colleagues and the local corporate finance community has been unbelievable. The move has been a real milestone in my career to date.Languages

Personal
I am a very busy full time working mum of three young children. My evenings and weekends are spent with the family on the side of a football pitch, a netball court, a hockey pitch or watching a cross country race or gymnastics competition! When we are not doing sport (and I can get the children off their devices) we enjoy a family bike ride or walk around a local National Trust property!
The proudest moment in my personal life – obviously after becoming a mum – was completing an Iron Man race in 2018. I have always been motivated by a challenge, and having completed several marathons since having the children, I trained long and hard for seven months to get into the right shape both physically and mentally for the big event. It was the day of the World Cup final 2018 - France v Croatia, it was scorching hot and the race started at 6:00am. A 2.4 mile swim round Pennington Flash to kick off, followed by 112 mile bike ride through the Lancashire hills and finally a full marathon round the streets of Bolton. Quite a memorable day, and to be met by the family when I crossed the finish line was very special. Would I do another one? Never say never!
Leisure
I feel very lucky to have been able to travel around the world to experience different cultures. Travelling through Bhutan in 2008 was an amazing experience and somewhere that most people don’t have the opportunity to visit. We cycled from the west of Bhutan, all the way across the Himalayas, to the south east of Bhutan over about ten days. We saw very dramatic mountainous landscapes and some beautiful Buddhist monasteries, but most notable was the friendliness of everyone we met and the simplicity and pace of life. In fact, instead of measuring gross domestic product or some other financial method of wealth, Bhutan measures Gross National Happiness! Something to think about in the frantically busy lives we all lead.
