Founded in 1990, Arnold Thomson is a firm of highly experienced solicitors and legal experts, providing legal advice and skillful guidance to farmers, landowners, private clients and commercial property owners.

The firm: Arnold Thomson originally specialised in agricultural property and rural estate. The firm has however witnessed considerable growth over the last 30 years, and while it retains this niche area of expertise, it has extended its areas of specialty to also cover commercial property; residential property; and wills, probate, inheritance tax and trusts. The firm’s particular areas of expertise also include development work for both landowner clients and developers (for both residential and commercial development and also renewable energy schemes) and partnership agreements as well as general succession planning options.

Although a fair percentage of the firm’s clients are local, its coverage is nationwide. Arnold Thomson is renowned for its unrivalled level of expertise, as well as its traditional approach to client care. It is committed to looking after its clients’ best interests in all of its practice areas. There is also a very high level of overlap in practice areas where agricultural property clients are also private clients in need of wills and probate services, for instance. The large majority of clients are repeat clients or clients referred to the firm by existing clients and our fellow professionals, who value the firm’s blend of traditional and innovative approach which promotes personal relationships while ensuring that their matters are professionally and robustly dealt with.

A small but distinguished and reputable firm, Arnold Thomson has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent years. It is very much attuned to changes and developments not only in the legal profession, but also in technology and the effect it has on the legal process. It is strategically positioned to continue to deliver the best possible results to clients and to look after their best interests. This has been recognised by the Law Society in granting the Firm Lexcel Accreditation.
