Kriton Metaxopoulos, Managing Partner

What do you see as the main points that differentiate KPMG Law Firm (Taiwan) from your competitors?

Team work and immediate responsiveness to clients’ needs, combined with excellent strategic and litigation skills is not just word for us. It is our working reality.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

As far as we are concerned we believe that White Collar Crime, Corporate Law and IP will be the growing areas, due to excellent results achieved in the past years for our clients on the one hand and on the other due to the fact that the Greek market seems to be slightly picking up.

What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

We have now not only have a leading lawyer per area of practice but also managed to always have a team of two other associates involved and ready to provide advice to the client.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

Yes Indeed and this is one of the challenges for the coming years

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

We have just recently dealt with two separate cases of alleged TM infringement by Greek clients of our firm and managed in all occasions to reach with the plaintiffs a commercial and legal settlement which was fair, commercially reasonable and safeguarded our client’s rights oven the TMs they were using in the Greek market.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

Our firm back in 2008 took the decision to limit its (then) rapid expansion and stay a full service boutique law firm. We stick to this decision to grow reasonably and in accordance not only with market needs but also with our personal life choices remaining the firm we chose to be ten years ago, that is a niche practice that always works as a team serving in the best possible way our client’s interests but also with respect to our personal needs too.
