Shanghai is an international business and trading hub, the financial centre of mainland China and the preferred choice of location for most international businesses who wish to establish a presence in China.

Wikborg Rein’s office in Shanghai (established in 2002) has Chinese, Norwegian and English lawyers practicing in areas covering all of China.

We primarily assist within the legal areas of maritime law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), company law, contract and construction law, financing and leasing, tax, compliance, anti-corruption, privacy and data protection, information security, intellectual property rights, IT law, labour law, dispute resolution and international trade issues.

Our client base consists of global leaders within shipping, marine insurance, offshore, oil and gas, renewables, technology and innovation, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as sourcing, manufacturing, retail, finance leasing, banking and finance.

Our clients typically inquire on establishment and regulatory issues, audits, and legal advice required by Chinese subsidiaries of international companies, such as compliance and crisis management, participation in negotiations, as well as dispute resolution in or related to China.

In addition, we assist Chinese clients within China on outbound investment and financing matters independent on Nordic links – in English or Norwegian law.
