We believe that impact investing is the greatest opportunity of our times. This is because it allows us to respond to the major environmental and social challenges of our society while we build an innovative organisation – one with a positive impact that is adapted to the market forces of the future.

To activate this important strategic axis, PLMJ has established a partnership with MAZE, an impact investment company founded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In this partnership we support a variety of key projects such as Maze X, a social impact start-up accelerator.

Pro bono

It is a long-standing tradition in PLMJ’s history to strive to help bridge the gaps that exist in universal access to justice and good quality legal services. Our pro bono work is a natural aspect of what we do and, at the same time, it mobilises our teams and has a visible and measurable social impact on the people and institutions we advise.

Our pro bono legal work includes:

  • Legal assistance in accessing the courts;
  • Provision services to non-profit organisations that support social solidarity and public interest causes;
  • Legal support for organisations that help resolve social problems, including environmental problems;
  • Provision of legal services to PLMJ’s own people.

Volunteerism and philanthropy

Our volunteering initiatives and programmes allow us to engage our people and respond to their need to act with purpose, while also strengthening our culture and maximising the reach of our actions.

We have a collaborative internal platform that aggregates all proposals and initiatives for volunteer work and donation campaigns that are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We want to support the projects that are really important and that inspire our people. That is why the various initiatives are suggested not only by PLMJ as an organisation, but also directly by our employees.

We recognise the fundamental role of the third sector and, financially or through donations, we support various non-profit organisations.

PLMJ creates team to deal with ‘Legal Finance’ services

In the current economic circumstances of an increase in cases (and risks) of breaches of contract and violation of rights, and in the resulting litigation, companies have to be increasingly creative in allocating resources. To assist them, PLMJ has set up a team specialising in the area of Legal Finance.
