The Panama Papers, which continue to dominate headlines worldwide (see for example this recent article on the CBC's website) are an important reminder that maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information is a significant challenge in today's world. As some world leaders, and former leaders, recently discovered, information and data which is in the possession of third party service providers is vulnerable to cyberattack, whether it is held by professional firms such as Mossack Fonseca or others. It is also a further reminder that the information security practices of third party service providers should be carefully reviewed and monitored on a regular basis.
