What was the project?
This major road and bridge project in Brisbane – the largest of its type in Queensland's history – improves the travel to and from Brisbane Airport and the Australia TradeCoast precinct, and between the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
The $2.12 billion project involves the duplication of the Gateway Bridge, the upgrading of the Gateway Motorway between Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road and Nudgee Road, and a new pedestrian and cycle way, including four viewing platforms looking east to Moreton Bay.

Arch Fletcher in the Brisbane office led a team advising the Leighton Abigroup Joint Venture, the successful tenderer for the design, construct and maintain (DCM) contract.
The work under the DCM contract includes the design and construction of a second Gateway Bridge and the design, construction and upgrading of 20 km of the Gateway Motorway.
The DCM contract also includes the maintenance of the existing bridge and other facilities during the design and construction phase, and the maintenance of both the existing and the new facilities for 10 years after the completion of the new work.
