Position

Josh’s practice covers all aspects of competition law and regulation, including communications, energy, financial services and data.

He is experienced in dealing with the most complex disputes, typically involving heavy economic and technical evidence and/or raising novel legal issues.  He appears regularly before UK and EU Courts and regulators; and has also advised on competition and regulatory matters arising in many other jurisdictions.  His clients range from major multinationals to small firms, as well as national governments and regulatory authorities from around the world.

The trucks litigation continues through collective proceedings and individual claims, with Paul Harris KC leading the defence for Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz; permission has now been granted to take further elements of the cases to the Court of Appeal. Josh Holmes KC and Daisy Mackersie represented the CMA in major Competition Act appeals, defending imposed fines totalling more than £260m on pharmaceutical companies.

Josh Holmes KC and Jack Williams continue to act for plastic manufacturing company Symphony in its longrunning damages claim against various EU institutions, regarding losses caused by the institutions’ ban on the sale of oxo-degradable plastic products.
