Position
John Taylor has a broad commercial litigation practice, including banking, financial services, insurance and reinsurance, professional negligence and aviation. His work includes appearing in international commercial arbitrations and market tribunals (including FSMA). Recent cases include the litigation arising out of the Box Clever securitisation (duties of banks acting as arranger/joint lead manager), and acting for a major US bond insurer on ‘credit crunch’ related disputes under credit default swaps and acting for Russian and Cypriot banks in their disputres with Russian Oligarchs with business interests in the real estate and oil and gas sectors. His aviation cases include acting for lessees and other counterparties following the administration of Silverjet, XL Airways and Spanish airline Futura. His insurance and reinsurance practice includes acting for Lloyd’s syndicates in arbitrations and litigation arising out of the Lloyd’s PA LMX market and numerous claims involving brokers’ negligence and coverage disputes. His professional negligence cases cover, in particular, accountants and bankers and include acting in the dispute between agent and syndicate banks arising out of the BBL litigation. General commercial cases include the Prince Jefri litigation.
