Position

A newly-appointed silk,  David specialises in serious crime, health and safety cases and professional disciplinary work (police and healthcare professionals). He prosecutes and defends in equal measure. He is regularly recommended in the UK’s Legal Directories (see Recommendations section).

As a junior, David’s experience and skills led to his early appointment to a number of national panels. He became a Grade 4 CPS advocate in 2011 and was soon appointed to the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences List and the Serious Crime Group Panel. He spent many years on the Attorney-General’s Unified List of Prosecution Advocates and the list of Specialist Regulatory Advocates (Health & Safety). He is one of the General Medical Council’s approved advocates.

In his criminal work, David is frequently instructed in high-profile cases of particular complexity, seriousness and sensitivity. Recent examples include murders, terrorist cases, baby-shaking fatalities, rape and child abuse trials, large-scale drug trafficking conspiracies and multi-million pound frauds.

In his health and safety work, David prosecutes (for the Health and Safety Executive) and defends companies facing criminal allegations. He has many years of experience and an exceptional record of success.

In his police work, David defends officers at all ranks before the criminal courts and in misconduct proceedings before the disciplinary panel. He has had particular triumphs in allegations of misconduct in public office and computer misuse.

David has a notable practice at the General Medical Council. He is particularly interested in healthcare regulation. He regularly conducts training courses for clinicians and NHS managers around the country. His in-depth knowledge and experience have resulted in glowing feedback from doctors, nurses and NHS directors.
