Dechert LLP's group has built up a first-rate practice under the leadership of its team head Sean Geraghty, with it handling listings (Official List/AIM/overseas), secondary transactions, and follow-on corporate M&A and governance issues. Its client roster includes corporate issuers, sovereign wealth funds and investment funds. It also advises NOMADs and brokers; in 2017, Geraghty and associate Jodie Valler-Feltham acted for Investec Bank in a £30m raising by ITM Power through a placing and open offer. In another matter, Geraghty, Patrick Lyons, Douglas Getter and others are advising Allenby Capital and Panmure Gordon as joint brokers and financial advisers on Audioboom Group Plc's £155m fundraising, the proceeds of which are primarily to enable the client to acquire Triton Digital from Vector Capital. On the issuer side, Lyons acted for Zealand Pharma (which was already listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen) on its $90m IPO on The NASDAQ Global Select Market; this matter represented the first-ever dual listing of a Danish biotechnology company.

Dechert LLP handles the full range of international debt and equity transactions from its London office, which also handles liability management exercises. Its client roster is diverse and includes global investment banks, financial institutions and a wide range of issuers including sovereigns, quasi-sovereigns, corporates and investment funds. The practice is best known for its work in emerging markets, which has extensive experience in the Middle East and North Africa, the Mediterranean basin, Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS and Caucasus regions, and Central Asia. This focus on developing markets sees the practice handle highly innovative and first-of-kind transactions. 2017 highlights included acting for lead managers Barclays, Byblos Bank, JPMorgan and Société Générale de Banque au Liban on the Lebanese Republic's $3bn triple-tranche bond issuance under its $28bn GMTN programme, which represented the country's largest-ever sovereign bond issue. Camille Abousleiman, who has more than 25 years' experience in the market, led that deal with the support of US-qualified partner Patrick Lyons. They also advised the Kingdom of Bahrain on its $3bn combined issuance. Associate Jennifer Rees is a rising star and played a key role in both deals. Sarah Smith, who specialises in public and privately-placed structured finance transactions, joined from Akin Gump LLP in April 2019.

It handles the full range debt and equity transactions and has both English and US law capability in London, which sees it play a key role in public and private Rule 144a/Regulation S issuances. including high yield bonds. Camille Abousleiman, who is co-head of the corporate and securities group, is recognised as a leading light in emerging markets sovereign and quasi-sovereign debt deals. He recently advised Barclays , Byblos Bank, JPMorgan and Société Générale de Banque au Liban as joint lead managers and bookrunners on a $3bn triple-tranche bond offering by the Lebanese Republic. US securities partner Patrick Lyons 'can always find the most suitable and loss-saving option' and played a key role in that deal. The practice also acted for the Kingdom of Bahrain in its $3bn combined issuance of bonds and trust certificates, which is the country's largest-ever syndicated debt deal. In another $3bn offering, the practice acted for the Arab Republic of Egypt in a multi-tranche bond issue under its GMTN programme.
