Position

Gina is a Partner in our Brand Protection team. She is a specialist in trade mark, copyright and designs law.

Gina understands that many clients faced with trade mark, copyright and design disputes would prefer to avoid litigation. She is consequently an expert at resolving contentious trade mark, copyright and design matters without the need for litigation. Gina is excellent at providing strategic and creative advice at the pre-action stage and is skilled in achieving great negotiated outcomes for her clients.

Of course, not every dispute is suitable for early resolution and sometimes litigation is the right tool for the job. Gina is therefore also experienced in representing clients in disputes before the full range of UK and EU courts and tribunals, including acting as advocate before the Appointed Person.

Because businesses in all sectors will have brands, copyright and sometimes also designs to protect and enforce, Gina works for clients across a wide range of sectors. Recent examples include acting in disputes concerning replica race cars, private jets, world famous video games, household name fashion brands, renowned alcoholic drinks and leading financial services providers. As a result of the breadth of her practice, Gina is adept at dealing with a wide range of IP issues. She provides clear, commercial advice on the scope and limitations of her clients’ rights – and the best way to enforce those rights accordingly.

Gina also has considerable non-contentious experience, providing in-depth “intelligent due diligence” advice to investors, including in relation to a household name single product toy business, as well as advising on the full suite of IP agreements. Gina is also experienced in advising on how competition law issues can interface with IP and thereby affect entities wishing to commercialise their IP.
