Dentons¬†merged with Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens LLP in October 2017, which resulted in the firm expanding its reach across the UK. The¬†combined team handles transactions involving various industries, including (but not limited to) energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, financial services, retail, technology and hotels. The firm's prominence in midmarket transactions enables it to generate work from clients such as HIG Capital and Waterland Private Equity. It also recently secured Rutland Partners as a new client.¬†In 2017,¬†Nicholas Plant¬†acted for Graphite Capital in the circa ¬£50m auction sale of SK:N.¬†The firm is also highly active in cross-border, large-cap transactions; Plant¬†and¬†Tatiana Kruse¬†were part of a cross-office team, which acted for Blackstone in its $1bn acquisition of the Acetow business from Solvay. Plant was also the lead partner assisting Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners with acquiring euNetworks for ‚ā¨1.1bn. In another matter,¬†Stephen Levy,¬†Joseph Altendorff¬†and others are advising KKR on its proposed circa ‚ā¨6.8bn acquisition of Unilever's spreads business. Another dimension of the private equity practice is its involvement in Africa-related deals, with the London office working closely with the firm's Africa-based offices, and elsewhere in the global network, on a wide range of transactions.¬†David Collins¬†heads up the team.¬†Jonathan Polin¬†moved to¬†Howard Kennedy LLP.
