Within: Power (including electricity and renewables)

Dentons is one client's 'go-to choice for financing mandates' and fields a 'huge team' which impresses through its 'excellent service, thoroughness and willingness to go the extra mile'. With a particular strength in the solar power space, the group continues to advise a leading international solar farm developers on its strategic partnership with an operator to accelerate the client's expansion overseas through the acquisition of assets across Europe; practice co-head Charles July also acted for Statoil in its first solar project development. Lucille De Silva teamed up with Candice Chapman to handle the acquisition of shareholding in UK renewable companies for a leading Asian utility provider, and the IFC appointed the group to oversee the implementation of its Scaling Solar Program in Ethiopia to support the local power utility in the selection of private sector partners to deliver 250MW of solar PV projects. The firm recently completed its merger with Maclay, Murray & Spens which significantly bolstered the firm's presence in the small to mid-scale projects space - particularly regarding onshore wind, hydroelectricity and combined heat and power generation - and in terms of energy regulation.
